Intentional Studio™
By The Kensington Diary
The intersection of ambition, emotional intelligence, & family life
Intentional Studio™ by The Kensington Diary™ was founded by Shanti, a senior leader in global strategy working at the forefront of science, development, and leadership.
Across her career she led some of the world’s most influential medical innovations and guided global organisations through complex strategic decisions.
Balancing that professional world with motherhood and family life in one of the world’s most demanding cities led Shanti to ask a deeper question:
Can we pursue ambition and excellence without losing our emotional balance, curiousity and perspective along the way?
Intentional Studio™ was created as an answer to that question: a framework for ambitious families who want success that does not come at the expense of wellbeing, relationships, or grounded judgement.
Drawing on behavioural science, development, research, and real-world experiences, the Studio explores how environments, systems and experiences shape how children grow into capable, thoughtful adults.
Through Intentional Studio™, Shanti has developed a series of original frameworks exploring how environments shape development, learning and long-term capability including Formative Travel™, a proprietary concept examining how travel experiences influence judgement, resilience and perspective over time.
The work focuses on one central idea: Development is not accidental, it can be designed intentionally.

The Intentional Studiol™ Framework
Children do not develop in isolation.
Their judgement, curiosity, emotional resilience and intellectual confidence are shaped by the environments they move through from schools, cultures, experiences, mentors and challenges.
Intentional Studio explores how families can think more strategically about those environments.
Rather than reacting to pressure, competition, or social expectations, the framework encourages parents to ask deeper questions:
• What environments strengthen curiosity and capability?
• What experiences build resilience and perspective?
• How do early decisions quietly shape later opportunity?
The goal is not to optimise childhood or turn children into projects.
It is to help families think more clearly about the long arc of development — and how everyday choices quietly compound over time.
Two Areas of Focus
The work currently explores two areas where family decisions have a powerful long-term impact:

Childhood Development, Learning & Family Decision-Making
Children do not thrive through academics alone.
They are shaped by the wider environments around them: the pace of family life, the experiences they are exposed to, the expectations placed on them, and the opportunities they have to build confidence, judgement and capability over time.
This work explores how families can support strong educational and developmental outcomes without reducing childhood to pressure, performance or over-scheduling.
It looks at the decisions that quietly shape long-term success: how children learn, what strengthens resilience and curiosity at different stages, and which experiences build the foundations for future confidence, academic growth and real-world capability.
Selective education is one part of that landscape, but not the whole story.
The broader focus is how to help children thrive and succeed while still protecting depth, play, perspective and childhood itself.

Formative Travel & Experiencesl™
Travel can be far more than entertainment or escape.
When approached intentionally, it becomes a powerful developmental environment, exposing children to cultures, challenges, nature, history and responsibility in ways that shape confidence, adaptability and perspective.
Formative travel explores how experiences build more than memories. It considers how travel can strengthen judgement, emotional resilience, curiosity and long-term capability and what families bring back home from those experiences into daily life.
This includes not only where families go, but which experiences are introduced at different stages, what they build, and how they support development over time.
